Figure of Speech


1.Alliteration:Alliteration is a literary style where similar sounding words are repeated.
E.g: Bring the book by the bank.
2.Simile:a figure of speech in which two unlike things are explicitly compared, as in “she is like a rose.”(as& like )
3.METAPHOR:, a metaphor is a figure of speech in which an implied comparison is made between two different things that actually have something important in common. 
E.g: The camel is the ship of desert.
4.Metonomy( one thing is used for another)
E.g: Bottle( Wine) ruined him
5.Hyperboles :are exaggerations to create emphasis or effect.
e.g: He is taller than hills
6.Chiasmus: ( inversion of structure): Beauty is truth, truth beauty.
7.Oxymoron( oposite word) 
e.g: He is busy idle
8.Litotes:He is no fool.( affirmation through strong negation)
9.Personification:i) I (cloud)bring fresh shower for the thirsty flower.ii) Death lays icy hand on thd king.
10.Irony:( contrast btween reality & apparent):
e.g:The thieves robbed the police station
11.Synecdoche: Mirzafor ( betrayer) will live for ever.( part for whole)
12.Onomatopoeia: The swallows are twittering.
13.Pun:( same word different meaning)
e.g: You cant chang spot of your character by changing spot.
